Transferable skills: taking what you already know into new sectors, with Ameena Hamid

In this workshop, Ameena will walk you through how to identify the skills you already have from working in the creative industries, market yourself effectively, and find roles in other industries that align with your experience and goals.

Ameena is a theatre producer who recently moved into wedding planning and project management, a shift that's let her open up new opportunities while being pickier about the theatre projects she takes on. If that sounds like the kind of flexibility you're after, this workshop is for you.

Ameena Hamid is an Olivier Nominated producer, general manager and facilitator whose career is proof of just how far creative skills can travel. The youngest ever woman to produce on the West End, she runs Ameena Hamid Productions, co-founded HD General Management with Grace Dickson, was named Best Producer at the Black British Theatre Awards 2022, and has an Olivier nomination for the new musical Why Am I So Single?

Ameena has taken her production skills into new industries: she is Project Manager for the Royal Institution's world-famous Christmas Lectures broadcast on the BBC and the founder of Weddings by Ameena, her wedding planning business. Her portfolio career spans commercial theatre, science engagement and live events, all built on the same foundation of creative producing.
